The Founder and Director General of Global Initiative for Good Governance(GIGG) and Chieftain of People’s Democratic Party(PDP), Dr Emeka Kalu has urged political actors in Edo state PDP to unite and support the incumbent governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki to emerge as the candidate of the party.
Kalu, in a statement signed by him, urged the gubernatorial aspirants in PDP to make a “huge sacrifice” for the success of the party.
Kalu said there may be clashes of interests with some bigwigs in Edo state but governor Obaseki is capable of leading the party to overwhelming victory come September, hence, the need for all to unite and support his re-election.
“Governor Obaseki has done extremely well in terms of developing Edo State. He has performed beyond expectations, hence, he should be respected and given a chance to fly the party’s flag. I know the sacrifice is huge, but, it’s for the overall good of the party”
The Director General of Atikulated Agenda Campaign Group Worldwide further appealed to PDP Governor’s Forum to show more commitment and dedication to ideals of democratic party by rallying round other aspirants to give the governor a soft landing.
Kalu also called on governor Godwin Obaseki to quickly reach out to more leaders and give assurance of togetherness and understanding to the warring members of PDP in Edo.
“I want urge governor Obaseki not to relent. He should be focus at this period of political trial. The governor should know that he is not alone. Edo people are with him. His performance shall speak for me.”
